Dear Comrade: Since you describe yourself as a “Trotskyite” (most of the Trots I know would say “TrotskyIST” instead, by the way), I’m surprised to find links here only to CP websites and not to any Trotskyist ones. For example, check out this one:

Humanists for revolutionary socialism springs to mind

But other examples would include the inclusion of the Communist Parties of both Ireland and Britian which are a shell of their former selves and declining. Both of which stalinist organisations. I link to both on my blog but it seems biazrre to link to them but not the larger and more active trotskyist parties in both Britian and Ireland

    Hi comrade,

Really like your blog, especially the post criticizing academic Marxism. You make a lot of great points about the sectarian thinking that often plagues the left.

I respectfully point out that your links do not include websites for the International Marxist Tendency. The IMT is based on the ideas of Ted Grant, a South African Trotskyist who believed Marxists should work within the traditional mass organizations of the working class (trade unions, labour, social democratic and Communist parties).

Grant founded Militant, a Marxist group within the Labour Party that at its peak in the 1980s had four thousand members in Britain, effective control of Liverpool City Council and elected three Marxist MPs to Parliament. Today, Alan Woods and Lal Khan are the chief theoreticians of the IMT. Woods’ books have been avidly read by Hugo Chavez, while the Pakistani section led by Khan has thousands of members (among the delegates at their last congress were MPs and Pakistan’s biggest pop star, who sang “The Internationale”).

I know every communist is going to put in a plug for their own tendency. But I do think Ted Grant’s approach has been more effective than any other Trotskyist group, based on the success of Militant. Anyway, take a look at the international website, In Defence of Marxism:

And be sure to check out Socialist Appeal, the American section of the IMT, who encourage the unions to break with the Democrats and establish a mass party of labor:

    Solidarity from Toronto!
